Admission to Govt. Physiotherapy college, Ahmadabad is conducted by the admission committee for professional medical educational courses. Medium of instruction & eligibility criteria:
English shall be the medium of instruction for all the subjects of study and the exams of the B.P.T. course. Candidate must have passed Higher Secondary Certificate Examination under 10+2 education patterns taking with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English or equivalent examination.
Eligible candidates should have completed the age of 17 years by 31st December of the year of his/her joining the college.
Intake Capacity and duration of the course
We have an intake capacity of 100 seats per batch and the course is offered in 4 ½ years, including 6 months of internship. It is mandatory to complete the 6 months internship in GSCPT approved hospitals as per the norms of the State Council and Govt. of Gujarat.
PG Courses:
Our College also offers Master of Physiotherapy – MPT.
Course Duration: 2 Years which is Affiliated with Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, and Recognized by the Government of Gujarat, with an Intake capacity of 12 seats.
Course Information:
MPT is a 2 years long program. After completion of BPT studies, the graduates are eligible to apply for the MPT entrance examination on merit bases as per guidelines of Gujarat University. We offer MPT in the below specialization areas;
- Musculoskeletal Conditions
- Neurosciences
- Cardio-Pulmonary Conditions
- Sports Physiotherapy
Regularity:
Working Timings are from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM (Recess 1.00 PM to 2.00 PM) on Monday to Friday and -9.00 AM to 1.00 PM on all Saturdays. Full day off on Sunday.
Clinical OPD and indoor timings are from 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM and classroom teachings are between 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM for B.P.T and M.P.T students. Students are posted in various departments and wards from 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM. wearing a white Apron is compulsory in clinic and college premises. All B.P.T and M.P.T students need to attend all the lectures during college hours like clinical teaching, lectures, tutorials group discussions, practical’s, project works, etc regularly as per their timetable.
Essentialities for qualifying to appear in university examinations
Fresh appearing candidates before presenting themselves for the University examination shall have
(a) Attended 75% of the minimum prescribed teaching hours as per Gujarat university norms (Lectures and practical’s including clinics, seminars, group discussions, tutorials, demonstrations, etc.)
(b) Secured at least 35% marks of internal assessment.
(c) If a student is found appearing in the university exams without fulfilling the conditions in the above criteria, his/her university result in the concerned subject/s should be canceled.
According to Gujarat university norms
To pass any B. Physiotherapy examination a student must obtain at least 50% marks in theory and practical aggregate. It is not compulsory to pass section – I and section – II separately. Minimum 75 % attendance of B.P.T students for each theory and practical as per Gujarat university norms in each term. They are being eligible for university examination as per Gujarat university ordinance. ATKT for B.P.T students will also have to comply with 75% attendance.
They will have to appear for internal exams & prelims compulsory. They are not eligible for any special reading vacation during their term. No reading vacation for university exam
It is compulsory to attend college till … days before the examination for students appearing in University examinations to complete the term. Failing to which the student may be debarred from the examination.
Sick leave and Leave for social events and Reading should be in the 25 % allowed leaves.
For medical leave medical certificate is compulsory. Though sick leave will be considered as absent.
If the student is suspended due to any reason attendance will not be counted for the suspension period.
Internal marks evaluation
For the internal and preliminary examination of B.P.T as per the schedule, there will be an internal exam and full syllabus for preliminary theory and practical exams for B.P.T students. Each exam score contributes to the total internal evaluation marks, both in theory and practical.
The student must obtain a minimum of 35 % of total internal evaluation marks in theory & practical separately in all the subjects for being eligible to appear at the Annual examination of Gujarat University.
The preliminary examination will be based upon the pattern of the University examination.
The marks obtained at these examinations will be taken into account while computing the internal evaluation marks for theory and practical.
Ragging in any form is not permitted in college and hostels and severe disciplinary action would be taken in case any student is found to indulge in ragging. Students who indulge in ragging are debarred from the course as per the norms of UGC and the University.
Discipline must maintain by students during their clinical posting, classes in the college, or within the college /hospitals and hostel premises.
Students are expected to be polite and respectful to all the teaching and non-teaching staff members, patients, and cadavers. Always maintain good behavior with all.
There are some extra-curricular activities for students. These activities are also necessary for a student’s life. They are supported and encouraged by the college. It should not be too expensive and it should never be at the expense of time allotted for curricular /academic programs.
Such activities should not lead to the absence of students from teaching-learning sessions.
Absence from teaching-learning sessions due to participation in such activities not specifically approved/authorized by the University / College will be treated as unauthorized absence and dealt with accordingly.
